About the Puli
The Puli is a medium-sized Hungarian herding dog famous for its unique corded coat, often compared to dreadlocks. Historically, these dogs worked alongside the much larger Komondor, acting as the 'eyes and ears' of the flock, using their agility and vocal nature to alert the bigger guards to danger. They are incredibly light-footed and springy, known for a characteristic shuffling gait and the ability to jump onto the backs of sheep to manage the flock. In a domestic setting, the Puli is a devoted 'shadow dog' that forms an intense bond with its family. Their intelligence is remarkable, often described as having a sense of humor and an uncanny ability to read their owner's emotions.
